Job summary

SYSTEM West Virginia University Health System seeks a senior educator/auditor for its coding team. This role trains WVU Healthcare coding staff, leads audits, and ensures accurate MS-DRG, HCC, and APR-DRG assignments.

You will coordinate audits with external agencies and update coding policies and education programs across multiple specialties. Ideal candidates have 5+ years coding experience with HIT or professional certifications, plus supervisory or project-management background.

Qualifications

• 5 years of coding experience (HIT path)
• 5 years of coding experience (certification path)
• 8 years of coding experience (high school path)
• RHIA / RHIT / COC / CCS / CPC certifications preferred
• Graduate education in HIT or related field is desirable

Responsibilities

• Manage training activities for WVU Healthcare coding staff
• Oversee quality improvement audits and training of coding staff
• Be the expert coding resource for coders, CDI, providers and revenue cycle
• Act as Super user for Coding-related EMR systems and update policies
• Develop coding policies, query development, and training materials
• Coordinate internal and external audits and report findings to Coding Manager
• Mentor new Coding Specialists on policies, audits, and quality initiatives
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and Coding Clinic resources
