Supervisor, Enterprise Coding

WVU Medicine is seeking an experienced Coding Supervisor to lead hospital and/or professional coding teams and support our mission of delivering high-quality, compliant, and patient-centered care across our system.

Your Impact at WVU Medicine

• Supervise coding staff and support day‑to‑day operations related to reimbursement, coding, abstracting, productivity, quality, and education
• Ensure coding backlogs, work queues, and charge lag remain within established benchmarks
• Serve as an expert coding resource for coders, providers, revenue cycle teams, and specialty groups
• Lead hiring, coaching, performance management, and staff development in partnership with management
• Develop and maintain coding policies, procedures, and training materials
• Conduct and oversee internal and external audits to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
• Analyze data, resolve coding and billing issues, and report findings to leadership
• Act as a liaison to vendors and assist with testing and implementation of information systems
• Assist with coding as needed

What We’re Looking For

Required

• Associate’s degree in Health Information Management with RHIT or RHIA
• or HS Diploma with CCS, CCS‑P, CPC, COC, or CIC
• 5+ years of medical coding experience

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in HIM or related field
• Clinical background (RN, LPN, or Medical Assistant)
• Advanced knowledge of ICD‑10‑CM/PCS, CPT, MS‑DRG, HCC, APR‑DRG, E&M, and surgical coding
• Supervisory or project management experience
• 7+ years of coding experience
