Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector II to lead coating and lining inspections on industrial, water, and infrastructure projects with sign-off authority. You will plan hold points, verify surface prep, application, and cure, perform adhesion and holiday testing, and document results for owners and engineers.

The role requires AMPP CIP Level 2 certification with 2+ years of experience, plus SSPC/NACE standards knowledge.

Qualifications

AMPP CIP Level 2 certification current with 2+ years inspecting under it.
Knowledge of SSPC/NACE surface preparation standards and common industrial coating systems.
Experience on tank, pipeline, water/wastewater, or structural steel coating projects.
Ability to stop an application that is out of specification and document it to close the issue.

Responsibilities

Plan inspection hold points and testing from the coating specification and manufacturer data.
Verify surface prep, application, and cure with sign-off at each hold point.
Perform adhesion, holiday, and cure testing; disposition defects and specify repairs.
Supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects and review their logs; write reports.
Represent the inspection program to the owner and applicator.
