Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector II to lead inspections of protective coatings on industrial, water, and infrastructure projects. You will plan hold points, verify prep, application, and cure with sign-off authority, and perform adhesion and holiday testing.

You will supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects, write reports, and interact with owners and applicators. CIP Level 2 certification and 2+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 2 certification with 2+ years of inspecting under it.
• Knowledge of SSPC/NACE surface preparation standards.
• Experience on tank, pipeline, water/wastewater, or structural steel coatings.
• Ability to stop work that is out of specification and document it to close.

Responsibilities

• Plan inspection hold points and testing from the coating spec and manufacturer data.
• Verify surface prep, application, and cure with sign-off at each hold point.
• Perform adhesion, holiday, and cure testing.
• Disposit defects and specify repairs.
• Supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects and review logs.
• Write inspection and nonconformance reports; represent program to owner/applicator.
