Job summary

BorgWarner in Seneca, SC seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to lead production floor support and process improvements for CNC machining of tight tolerance parts. You will drive design of manufacturing plans, capacity forecasting and equipment acquisitions while coordinating with production teams to ensure safety and quality.

The role requires a BS with 8 years of engineering experience and leadership exposure; Master’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Industrial Systems Engineering required.
• Master’s Degree preferred.
• 8 years’ engineering experience required.
• 2 years’ leading a technical team preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own a designated department process with responsibility for machinery, gaging, quality, tooling, capacity and documentation.
• Lead the new product launch team designing manufacturing plans including operator content, machine capability, quality checks and information flow.
• Lead the department planning team for capacity planning and capital forecasting.
• Determine parts, tools, and gaging needed to meet manufacturing goals per product specs.
• Evaluate machine builders and procure new machining, assembly and test equipment; quote, develop and qualify machines.
• Lead machine installation, robotic integration, runoff and handoff to production.
• Provide ongoing equipment support to drive efficiency, capability and continuous improvement; address safety issues.
• Collaborate with Area Production Leader to improve departmental financial metrics.
• Troubleshoot downtime across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, coolant systems.
• Address tooling downtime through vendor collaboration and design tooling.
• Utilize 8D, 6 Sigma for problem solving and quality issues.
• Dispositions of parts on hold for rework or scrap.
• Assist with training for team leads and operators.
• Develop/update process sheets, control plans, FMEA, FPPA, tool sheets and job instructions.
