Job summary

Tally Energy in Houston, TX seeks a Lead Machinist to oversee CNC operations, ensure process control, and drive efficiency across the machine shop. The role includes setting up, programming, and validating CNC programs, while maintaining strict quality at the source and coordinating with ME for tooling standards.

The candidate will train peers, monitor downtime, and promote a collaborative team environment to meet KPI targets and production goals.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or GED required.
• 15 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination thereof.
• Ability to read engineering prints and interpret drawings.
• Ability to set up and program CNC machine tools.
• Proficient mathematical calculations for tolerances and feed/speed calculations.
• Ability to use proper measuring tools for quality inspections.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for Process Control related to the assigned machine.
• In-process inspection, handling, and inventory control of equipment.
• Receive material, read prints, set-up, program, and produce parts.
• Hit target efficiencies established by leadership.
• Assist and train other employees when asked by Supervisor.
• Ensure operators follow processes, turret configuration, and programs.
• Log changes to feeds/speeds with predefined reason codes.
• Standardize tooling with ME and optimize set-up times.
• Troubleshoot CNC machines and coordinate with maintenance.
• Report downtime and ensure quality at the source.
• Provide feedback on optimization and improvements.
