This position is responsible for programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and analyzing measurement data to ensure the quality of manufactured aerospace components. This role requires expertise in CMM programming, extensive knowledge of GD&T, and experience with 2D and 3D drawings. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience writing programs in Modus using the Renishaw Revo probe head. Additionally, experience with PC‑DMIS or PolyWorks and familiarity with fixed scanning probe heads and rotary tables are a plus. Familiarity with aerospace components and airfoil specifications is also desired.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe practices are followed, in compliance with all GE Aerospace rules and regulations.
  • Write and validate Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programs in Modus and other languages to support the manufacturing of rotational jet engine components such as spools, disks, and blisks.
  • Use GE Aerospace drawings and internal specifications to understand the dimensional requirements of the part and determine measurement strategies.
  • Thoroughly understand Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles and how the ASME Y14.5 standard is adopted and interpreted at GE Aerospace.
  • Use sound metrology and programming methodology to develop repeatable, robust programs that can run without operator interaction.
  • Analyze CMM measurement results and produce data for quality engineers.
  • Provide routine software/hardware troubleshooting support and ensure the reliability of the CMM fleet by performing calibration activities, coordinating repairs, and completing basic maintenance.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in CMM programming).
  • Minimum of 3 years of CMM programming experience.
Desired Qualifications
  • Minimum of three years creating, editing, and running Modus CMM programs on a CMM equipped with the Renishaw Revo probe head; programming in PC-DMIS, NxCMM, and/or PolyWorks is also desirable.
  • Experience programming and running CMMs equipped with fixed analog scanning probe heads and rotary tables.
  • GDTP (Y14.5) Technologist or Senior level certification.
  • Experience creating and manipulating 3D models in NX (Unigraphics) or other 3D modeling software.
  • Experience analyzing 2D and 3D measurement data compared to part models.
  • Familiarity with aerospace industry standards.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with other metrology tools such as optical comparators, surface profilometers, vision/laser metrology systems, micrometers, calipers, and hard gaging.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross‑functional team environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of manufacturing methods and quality principles.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and provide efficient solutions.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Humility, respect for others, and a receptiveness to learning.
  • Ability to mentor younger or less‑experienced inspectors and CMM programmers.
