Job summary

GE Aerospace in the United States is seeking an engineer focused on manufacturing process analysis and execution. The role drives improvement across design, analysis, testing, materials, manufacturing, and quality, with autonomy to execute within established practices.

Responsibilities include developing product processes, leading technical reviews, creating inspection programs for CMMs and related equipment, and supporting shop floor and industrialization of inspection processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; or HS Diploma with 4+ years of manufacturing/engineering experience.
  • Experience with inspection technology and aviation quality requirements.
  • Proficiency in NX CAD software and related inspection tooling.

Job Description Summary Engineering associated with the manufacturing process. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.

Job Description Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute and provide guidance for the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product / program requirements
  • Define and develop product processes related to design, analysis, test, materials, manufacture, quality and/or productivity
  • Identify need for technical and program reviews within the organization, lead and participate in the technical reviews with limited guidance from senior engineers
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments as appropriate
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data or programs generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical and program requirements, schedules and contract commitments, develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems
  • Create inspection programs for CMM’s, bluelight or other inspection technologies for manufacturing, quality and engineering organizations
  • Seek out new inspection technologies to improve throughput and quality of part
  • Develop and promote standardization throughout the supply chain
  • Provide inspection technical support to the shop and industrialization of inspection processes
  • Coordination and implementation of inspection activities
  • Maintain processes and equipment needed to support next generation manufacturing processes

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree (or HS Diploma/GED and a minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing or Engineering)
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Manufacturing or Engineering

Desired Characteristics

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Aerospace or Computer Science
  • Experience in the use of scanning systems to capture component geometry
  • PCDMIS, Polyworks, Modus or Camio software programming
  • In-depth understanding of engineering technology and tools
  • Experience with aviation quality requirements
  • Knowledge of various inspection technologies from Renishaw, Hexagon, Zeiss
  • Proficient in advanced use of NX or equivalent CAD software, with the ability to open and navigate models, extract data, create drawings, perform basic modeling, and export data for various applications
  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools, systems and troubleshooting skills
  • Understanding and the application of GD&T
  • Strong PC skills; Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience in the off-line development of programs and on-site installation
  • Experience in the inspection of jet engine hardware
