Job Description

UKG is looking for a Lead Cloud Platform Engineer to build and maintain our public/private cloud’s PaaS layer (Platform as a Service). This team abstracts the complexities of Infrastructure, Networking, and Security to ensure standardized consumption for Application support. Technologies include Linux, Go, Ansible, Concourse, K8s, GKE, GCP, and Openstack. The role collaborates with Agile teams for seamless software deployment across cloud infrastructure.

This position may involve work with the U.S. government; therefore, the candidate should be a U.S. citizen. Existing or previous Government Security Clearance is preferred, or the ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

1. Manage and improve tools and services stack, delivering incremental value.
2. Maintain and enhance managed services such as Kubernetes, MongoDB, MySQL, Elasticsearch, Redis, RabbitMQ, PostgreSQL, AlloyDB.
3. Develop applications and services to support Product Development via self-service portals.
4. Collaborate with teams to understand requirements and gaps.
5. Participate in daily team meetings and collaborate across teams.
6. Troubleshoot issues, develop automation, and mentor team members.
7. Guide engineers on implementations and best practices.
8. Understand service topology and ensure alignment with industry standards.
9. Document technical specifications and participate in on-call rotations.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience.
2. 8+ years in cloud infrastructure, with experience in GCP preferred.
3. Proficiency in at least one programming language (Java, Golang, Ruby, Python).
4. Management of Linux platforms and Cloud Native solutions.
5. Experience with DevOps tools like Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD, and container technologies.
6. Scripting skills in Perl, Bash, Python, PowerShell.
7. Knowledge of Windows/Linux OS, networking, and security.
8. Experience with scalable, highly available services and infrastructure automation.
9. Familiarity with web tech, microservices, REST, and SRE principles.

Additional Qualifications

• Experience with RDBMS and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with message queues and monitoring tools.
