Job summary

MISUMI Americas is seeking a Lead Cloud DevOps Engineer to own the AWS infrastructure that runs our multi-regional platform. You’ll be hands-on with CloudFormation and Node.js daily, leading infrastructure projects end-to-end and mentoring a small team.

You will design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, logging, monitoring, and security practices to ensure reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient operations across global environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on, production experience writing Node.js code — building services, automation, or internal tools
• 10+ years in DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure Engineering, SRE, or Systems Engineering
• Strong track record designing and operating CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and applications
• Extensive experience with multi-region or globally distributed AWS environments
• Solid understanding of AWS security best practices — IAM, networking, encryption, least-privilege access
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers on infrastructure projects

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure using CloudFormation as the primary IaC tool
• Own and evolve AWS environments for high availability, scalability, failover, and security
• Lead infrastructure projects from planning through execution, mentoring a small team
• Build and maintain Node.js–based tools and services for automation, deployment, monitoring, and platform operations
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments
• Set up and manage logging, monitoring, and alerting across AWS environments
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across infrastructure, applications, and CI/CD systems
• Drive initiatives to improve performance, reliability, security posture, and cloud cost efficiency
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, security, and operations
• Maintain documentation of infrastructure, automation, and operational processes

• MISUMI Americas builds the digital infrastructure behind how the world’s hardware gets designed and manufactured
• We’re looking for a Lead Cloud DevOps Engineer to take ownership of the AWS infrastructure that runs our multi-regional, global platform — someone who wants to be hands-on with CloudFormation and Node.js every day, not just architecting on a whiteboard
• This is a builder’s role. You’ll lead infrastructure projects end to end — architecture, implementation, debugging, optimization — while writing the Node.js tools and services that keep deployment, monitoring, and platform operations running smoothly
• You’ll work closely with engineering, security, and product teams to keep our systems reliable, secure, scalable, and cost-efficient as we grow
• Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure using CloudFormation as our primary Infrastructure-as-Code tool
• Own and evolve our AWS environments for high availability, scalability, failover, and security
• Lead infrastructure projects from planning through execution, mentoring and guiding a small team

Based in Oakland, CA / greater Bay Area, with the ability to work onsite as required

U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder)

Strong track record designing and operating CI/CD pipelines

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Solid grasp of AWS security best practices — IAM, networking, encryption, least-privilege access

Expert-level, hands-on AWS experience across EC2, Lambda, IAM, VPC, S3, CloudWatch, RDS, CodeBuild, and Elastic Beanstalk

Hands-on experience debugging systems and applications in production

Strong Linux systems experience

Extensive, real-world CloudFormation experience: authoring and maintaining complex templates, managing stacks across multiple environments, and handling updates, rollbacks, drift detection, and full stack lifecycle management

5+ years of hands-on, production experience writing Node.js code — building services, automation, or internal tools, not just deploying Node.js applications

10+ years in DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or Systems Engineering

Experience with database performance tuning and optimization

Experience leading or mentoring engineers on infrastructure projects

Experience operating multi-region or globally distributed AWS environments

Cloud cost optimization / FinOps experience

Familiarity with containerized workloads (ECS, EKS)

Background in fast-growing or high-scale engineering organizations
