Job Title: Cloud Engineer

Overview:

Required Skills:

• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS in a production environment (compute, storage, networking, IAM)
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), particularly Terraform — including writing and modifying modules
• Strong understanding of AWS networking fundamentals (VPCs, subnets, security groups, routing)
• Experience with IAM and cloud security best practices (least privilege, encryption, secrets management)
• Ability to manage AWS accounts, including IAM roles, cross-account access, SSO setup, and provisioning workflows
• Competence in troubleshooting AWS resources across compute, storage, and networking
• Familiarity with following documentation, runbooks, and operational processes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaboration across engineering and business teams
• Ability to independently manage well-scoped tasks and **escalate** issues appropriately

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience with Terraform Cloud, Spacelift, or similar centralized IaC platforms
• Exposure to multi-account AWS environments, Landing Zones, or Control Tower setups
• Knowledge of containerized workloads such as Kubernetes/EKS
• Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools like Grafana or CloudWatch
• Handling AI/ML or high-performance computing (HPC) workloads in the cloud

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred
• 5+ years of relevant cloud engineering experience with a focus on AWS environments

Other Requirements:

• This position is onsite in Foster City, CA, requiring 3 days per week in the office
• Competitive W2 engagement, 6+ months contract with possibility of extension
• Must be able to work independently and effectively follow established operational procedures
• Clear communication skills necessary for collaborating across technical teams and stakeholders
