Summa Health System is seeking a Lead Clinical Pharmacist - Geriatrics for Akron City Campus. This full-time position includes a shared faculty role with NEOMED, focusing on optimizing pharmacotherapy for elderly patients within a collaborative care team.

The role requires a Doctor of Pharmacy, Ohio license or eligibility, and residency or equivalent experience with geriatrics or PGY2 preferred. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits await.

Lead Clinical Pharmacist - Geriatrics

Full-time / 40 hours per week

Summary

Serves as facilitator for pharmaceutical care team; participates in ongoing education of team members; coordinates quality improvement initiates of team; ensures the safe, efficacious, and cost-effective use of medications in assigned patient populations.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Formal Education Required:
   • Doctor of Pharmacy
   • Licensed or license eligible by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy
2. Experience & Training Required:
   • Completion of residency training in pharmacy practice or three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in a pharmaceutical care position which has provided skills in pharmacy education and quality improvement. Prefer PGY2 in geriatrics preferred.
3. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
   • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
   • Ability to operate a computer terminal, hand-held calculator, and other office equipment; manipulate fine instruments; and prepare pharmaceutical entities in minute proportions.
   • Ability to work well within a team environment: by accepting and offering honest and constructive feedback; by supporting team goals and encouraging other team members; and by collaborating with patient care team members to consolidate work, solve problems, create new methods, and/or reduce costs
   • Ability to be self-directed in executing responsibilities within a team structure
   • Working knowledge of Ohio pharmacy law
   • Flexibility/adaptability to meet environmental constraints and demands common with changing reimbursement and managed care targets
   • Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity
4. Level of Physical Demands:
   • Sedentary: Exerts up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
   • Hazards: Exposure to blood, blood fluids, and sharps; risk of falls, strains, contagious diseases, cuts from broken glass, needle puncture, etc. Possible exposure to selected hazardous substances (e.g., alcohol, chemotherapeutic agents, etc.)
