Job summary

Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to provide day-shift leadership in a CAP-certified lab at the Burnet Campus. You will collect and analyze clinical data, ensure high-quality testing, and support staff development within a 40-hour week.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 4+ years in a related lab setting, leadership experience, and CLIA/CAP supervisor qualifications; certification by a national accrediting agency is

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 4+ years technical experience in a related laboratory setting.
• Demonstrated leadership experience.
• Qualified by CLIA/CAP standards minimally as a general supervisor.
• Preferred: Certification by national laboratory accrediting agency.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine procedures of a Medical Lab Scientist, including collecting and analyzing data, to support patient care decisions.
• Maintain quality and accuracy in the laboratory, coordinating with leadership on testing and reporting issues; select methodologies and verify procedures.
• Supervise reporting personnel; participate in recruitment, onboarding, training, and staff development; conduct performance evaluations.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., TJC, HIPAA); help implement policies and safety standards.
• Assist with budgeting and department fiscal responsibilities; monitor revenue and expenditures; support major purchases.
• Lead quality assurance efforts, audit testing processes, and drive cross-disciplinary improvements.
