Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Medical Laboratory Technologist/MLS to perform a broad range of laboratory duties and support complex testing within the VA system.

The position requires chemistry, hematology, microbiology/isolation skills, and the ability to troubleshoot instrumentation, develop procedures, and coordinate daily activities with clinicians and nursing staff. EDRP eligibility applies, with benefits under the Education Debt Reduction Program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Certification options: MLS Generalist (ASCP BOC or AMT) or MT Generalist (ASCP BOR or AMT) or Categorical/Specialist (ASCP or AMT).
• 1 year of creditable experience required for all GS-12 assignments.
• KSAs include knowledge of medical technology, instrument maintenance, developing procedures, coordinating daily work, staff development, and providing guidance to clinicians.
