Job summary

Vaakawi in Arizona is seeking a Lead Cleaner to supervise the cleaning team on site, bridging staff and facility management. The role blends hands-on duties with leadership, assigns tasks, inspects work, and manages supplies to maintain top cleanliness standards.

You will supervise schedules, ensure safety protocols, train staff on techniques and SDS, monitor inventory, cover for absences, and act as the main point of contact for client concerns.

Lead Cleaner

Lead Cleaner acts as the on-site supervisor for the cleaning team, bridging the gap between the staff and facility management. This role combines hands-on cleaning duties with leadership responsibilities. The Lead Cleaner ensures that the team operates efficiently, adheres to safety protocols, and maintains the highest standards of cleanliness. They are responsible for assigning tasks, inspecting completed work, and managing supply inventory.

The Lead Cleaner will perform a variety of custodial duties for Vaakawi. Such responsibilities shall be in accordance with established standards, instructions, and procedures of Vaakawi.

Job Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

• Team Supervision: Coordinate daily schedules, assign cleaning zones to staff, and ensure all shift tasks are completed on time.
• Quality Assurance: Conduct routine inspections of restrooms, common areas, and workspaces to verify cleanliness and correct deficiencies immediately.
• Training & Onboarding: Train new employees on cleaning techniques, equipment operation, and chemical safety (Safety Data Sheets/SDS).
• Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels of cleaning chemicals and consumables (paper towels, soap); submit orders for replenishment.
• Operational Support: fill in for absent staff members by performing standard cleaning duties; unlock/lock facilities if required.
• Reporting: serve as the primary point of contact for client complaints or facility issues; report maintenance needs or safety hazards to management.

• Leadership: Ability to motivate a team, delegate tasks effectively, and resolve minor conflicts.
• Communication: Clear verbal and written skills to report shift updates to management and instruct staff.
• Adaptability: Ability to adjust schedules quickly (e.g., covering for a sick employee) and handle unexpected emergencies.
• Technical Expertise: extensive knowledge of cleaning chemicals, floor care procedures, and industrial equipment.
