Job summary

Markel is seeking a highly experienced claims professional in Alpharetta, GA, to act as the acknowledged technical expert for high complexity and high exposure claims. The role involves autonomous decision-making within authority and leadership in casualty coverage and litigation across the unit.

You will manage complex cases, coordinate with underwriters, and mentor junior examiners while traveling as needed. A college degree and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10+ years of casualty claims or litigation experience.
• Experience managing third-party administrators, MGAs, and/or MGUs is a plus.
• College degree required; professional designations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, negotiate and settle complex primary and excess casualty claims.
• Analyze and determine coverage; draft complex correspondence and communicate positions to stakeholders.
• Manage nationwide litigation; direct defense counsel and coordinate with claims vendors.
• Collaborate with underwriting to manage claims and alert significant developments.
• Contribute to training and development of claims examiners; participate in meetings.
• Travel approximately 10–20% as required.
