WSP is looking to build our transportation design team in the Sacramento region with a Lead Civil Engineer. The role can be located out of the Roseville, CA or San Francisco, CA offices.

The ideal candidate will provide project leadership on complex civil engineering projects, ensuring team members are clear on their responsibilities and deadlines, managing project budgets, supervising subcontractors and staff, and providing technical guidance for various infrastructure projects including planning, design, and construction.

Your Impact

• Lead teams and interact with clients to deliver high-quality work products.
• Apply civil engineering techniques across project phases from concept to operation.
• Conduct research, site inspections, and ensure compliance with standards and permits.
• Develop plans, specifications, cost estimates, and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Manage multiple projects, overseeing budgets, schedules, and team performance.
• Review and approve infrastructure designs, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
• Prepare technical reports, visualizations, and presentations.
• Analyze data from field investigations and develop risk mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients professionally.
• Stay current with civil engineering practices and uphold safety and ethical standards.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field.
• 7-10 years of relevant experience in civil engineering and design.
• Engineer license required.
• Proficiency in civil engineering principles, design software (e.g., Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroStation), and regulatory standards.
• Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently and lead teams effectively.
