Job summary

Chess Wizards in Austin, TX is seeking a Lead Teacher Trainer to lead engaging chess classes for 10–15 elementary students and to help train fellow instructors. The role requires reliable transportation, 2–3 years’ experience with children, and after-school availability most weekdays.

The position includes travel between sites, collaboration with the Area Manager, and ongoing program coaching. Compensation is per class with opportunities for advancement within the company.

Qualifications

• Lead Teacher Trainers must have 2-3 years of experience working with groups of children.
• Must be able to reach most or all classes in the metropolitan areas.
• Available during after school hours at least 4 days per week, with preference for 5 days during peak weeks.
• Strong grasp of chess fundamentals and ability to explain moves in age-appropriate terms.
• Arrive 15 minutes before program start and stay until dismissal.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage engaging chess classes for 10–15 elementary students, guiding activities and behavior.
• Assist in training, coaching, and evaluating other instructors.
• Support Area Manager with coaching visits, customer conversations, and quality control.
• Help with scheduling, site visits, and communication with parents and schools.
• Maintain professional communication and prepare class evaluation reports.
