Job summary

UofL Health in Louisville, KY is seeking a seasoned Medical Assistant to provide administrative and clinical support within a busy practice. Responsibilities include training staff, maintaining CLIA-waved equipment QC, coordinating appointments, and communicating with patients, hospitals, and pharmacies regarding tests, results, and prior authorizations.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of Medical Assistant experience, CPR/BLS certification, and an active MA credential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 5 years working as a Medical Assistant (required).
• Electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injection experience (preferred).
• CPR and BLS certifications required or in progress.
• Medical Assistant certification through the National Healthcare Association (must be obtained within 3 months of accepting position).

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support and assist with scheduling and patient flow.
• Train staff and externs on daily Medical Assistant duties and EMR usage.
• Maintain QC checks on CLIA waved lab equipment and monitor temperatures.
• Communicate with patients, hospitals, physician offices, pharmacies, insurers, and laboratories regarding tests and results.
• Assist with patient preparation, vital signs, injections, and charting in the EMR.
• Prepare charts, handle faxes, order supplies, and manage office tasks.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and confidentiality at all times.
