Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate from an accredited Medical Assisting program OR 12 months direct clinical patient care OR current MA certification.
• Certification within 6 months of employment.
• Active certification such as RMA, CCMA, CMA, NCMA, or NCRMA preferred.
• Current BLS certification through American Heart Association.
• Knowledge of Internet, spreadsheet, Word, and EMR software.
• Ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to prioritize needs and plan work accordingly.
• Knowledge of HIPAA confidentiality requirements.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients and measures vital signs and records data in EMR.
• Performs injections, EKG, U/A, dipstick, capillary blood draw, and related tests.
• Dispense medications as directed by the physician.
• Maintain AED and prepare treatment rooms for examinations.
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments as appropriate.
• Performs administrative tasks including front desk check-in and scheduling.
• Answers phones, triage, and coordinates appointments.
• Ensure compliance and regulatory reporting.
• Maintain clinic and patient records and telephone encounters.
• Inventories and orders medical supplies and medications.
• Follow up with patients who miss appointments and coordinate referrals.
• Ensure all reports and follow-ups are charted for physician review.
• Assist Patient Advocate with engagement/outreach as needed.
