Job summary

Waste Management in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Lead Driver to substitute for drivers on open routes, support routing, and provide operational assistance as directed by the Route Manager, including training and retraining of drivers.

You will mentor new drivers, participate in routing projects, and ensure safety and performance while adhering to all rules. Strong communication with Dispatch and Operations is essential.

Qualifications

• 5 years operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or equivalent military driving experience within the last 7 years.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located.
• Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to interact with the public, understand traffic signs, respond to official questions, and complete records or reports.
• Successfully complete pre-employment screening, including drug screen and physical.
• CDL Class A with an air-brake endorsement or CDL Class B with an air-brake endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Lead drivers substitute for the drivers of open routes, supporting drivers to complete routes, and provides other operational support as directed by the Route Manager.
• Mentors new drivers and participates in routing projects and other developmental programs.
• Observes and coaches new drivers to ensure proper and consistent safety and performance duties.
• Performs all duties as scheduled by Operations Manager or Dispatch and assists other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
