Job summary

WM (Waste Management) in Phoenix, AZ seeks a CDL-B driver to safely operate heavy-duty trucks on swing routes. The role includes pre/post-trip inspections, reporting issues, and performing route duties with a focus on safety and customer service.

You will work with Route Managers to improve efficiency, document incidents, and ensure proper container handling. Training and growth opportunities are emphasized as part of a stable team environment.

Qualifications

• CDL-Class B license required or equivalent military driving experience within last 7 years.
• Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to interact with the public, understand traffic signs, respond to official questions, and complete records.
• Must be at least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Successfully complete pre-employment screening, including drug screen and physical.
• 2 years operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or equivalent driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Safely operates a heavy-duty truck on swing routes.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections using DVIR and notes issues for repair.
• Reports unsafe situations or service needs to Route Manager or Dispatch.
• Participates in scheduled training, briefings and meetings.
• Works with Route Managers to improve route efficiencies and address unsafe accounts.
• Completes duties as scheduled and assists other drivers as directed.
• Notifies Route Manager of incidents, accidents or property damage.
• Notifies Dispatch of issues such as blocked containers or missed pick-ups.
• Communicates customer requests or issues to Dispatch or Route Manager.
• Dumps containers and leaves the site clean and free of debris.
• Completes customer tickets when excess yardage must be removed.
• Positions containers to ensure lids are replaced and do not block traffic.
• Follows route assignments and completes end-of-day documentation.
