Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a dedicated Cashier/Stocker who can lead in the absence of the Store Manager. You will set and maintain plan-o-grams, provide exemplary customer service, and help maximize profitability while protecting assets.

You will unload, stock, and display merchandise, assist customers, and perform cashier duties. The role emphasizes teamwork, loss prevention, and adherence to store policies to deliver a positive shopping experience.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Ability to perform IBM cash register functions.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices.
• Effective interpersonal and oral & written communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks according to the prescribed process for the store.
• Stock merchandise; rotate and face merchandise on shelves and build merchandise displays.
• Restock returned and recovered merchandise.
• Greet customers as they enter the store.
• Operate cash register and collect payment from customers.
• Keep store clean and organized; maintain plan-o-gram implementation.
• Monitor cash levels and assist in cashier accountability.
• Open and close the store under the direction of the Area Manager.
