Job Overview

Outside In Construction, INC is seeking an experienced and organized Lead Carpenter to oversee and execute residential new construction and remodeling projects across New Hampshire's beautiful Lakes Region. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled craftsperson with 8+ years of industry experience and strong leadership abilities who enjoys being hands-on in the field while coordinating project teams and ensuring the delivery of exceptional client experiences.

Responsibilities Include (but Are Not Limited To)

  • Project Oversight
    • Oversee up to two (2) active projects at a time
    • Schedule Outside In Construction (OIC) field crews and coordinate with subcontractors to ensure timely and on-budget project completion
    • Assign and manage a dedicated field crew member to optimize crew productivity
    • Maintain seamless workflow by proactively managing project schedules and potential conflicts
  • Quality Assurance
    • Conduct regular on-site inspections to ensure high-quality standards
    • Document inspections using CompanyCam and internal procedures
    • Submit accurate RFIs (Requests for Information) and detailed change orders to Project Manager
  • Hands-On Field Work
    • Work directly alongside field crews and subcontractors to monitor progress and resolve challenges
    • Perform hands-on carpentry and site management tasks as needed to drive project momentum
    • Lead by example in maintaining craftsmanship and efficiency on the job site
  • Team Leadership
    • Lead field crew members, promoting a positive team environment and high productivity
    • Ensure adherence to safety protocols (OSHA 10 minimum required) and foster a culture of teamwork and accountability
  • Communication & Coordination
    • Serve as primary point of contact for clients, providing updates and ensuring client satisfaction
    • Communicate material needs and coordinate with Project Manager for procurement
    • Verify accuracy of material deliveries and ensure projects are fully stocked
  • Resource & Technology Utilization
    • Utilize company-provided van, tools, gas card, cell phone, and project management software (BuilderTrend, CompanyCam) to manage projects effectively
    • Maintain proficiency in digital tools for real-time communication, scheduling, and reporting
    • Manage tools and materials efficiently to reduce waste and improve cost-effectiveness
Position Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in the building trade
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a leadership/management role within residential construction
  • Must have a valid Drivers License and provide own transportation to the office
  • OSHA 10 certification required
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Deep knowledge of residential construction practices and standards
  • Proficient in using digital project management tools
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and personalities

Bonus Attributes

  • Experience with BuilderTrend, CompanyCam, and JobTread
  • Familiarity with Chief Architect or SketchUp
  • Experience with construction takeoff software
