Job summary

UVA Health seeks a Laboratory Lead Technologist for Cancer Care Laboratories, serving Emily Couric Cancer Center, Pantops, and Fishersville/Augusta. You will lead technical operations, ensure quality, and drive regulatory readiness while expanding services across locations.

You will partner with the medical director and leadership to mentor staff, validate instruments, and implement improvements in a patient‑centered oncology lab network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with NAACLS approved MLS/CLS program or equivalent.
• 3 years of relevant MLS/CLS experience or 5 years in biology/chemistry related science.
• MT or categorical license, ASCP or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across Cancer Care Laboratories in multiple locations.
• Oversee instrument validation, quality oversight, and regulatory readiness.
• Collaborate with Medical Director and laboratory leadership on quality and compliance.
• Lead onboarding, training, and competency development of staff.
• Monitor CAP standards and accreditation requirements.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation, assays, and workflow issues.
• Support startup, expansion, and implementation initiatives.
