UVA Health in Charlottesville is seeking a Medical Lab Assistant to support ambulatory cancer care laboratories, delivering hands-on patient interaction while assisting with specimen handling and workflow. You will work with oncology clinicians, phlebotomists, and lab staff to ensure accurate testing and compassionate care.

This role provides exposure to laboratory medicine, patient care, and growing career pathways in cancer care operations, phlebotomy, and specimen management within UVA

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or MLA CSC completion.
• MLA (ASCP) certification within 12 months of hire preferred/required.
• Experience in a clinical lab environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support daily laboratory operations in ambulatory cancer care clinics.
• Receive, prepare, and manage patient specimens for testing.
• Coordinate specimen routing and transport to Core Laboratory teams.
• Assist with workflow management and operational support.
• Perform phlebotomy and patient-facing lab activities as needed.
• Collaborate with oncology clinicians and care teams to ensure seamless patient care.
