Job summary

Amarillo Independent School District is seeking a Maintenance Head Custodian in Amarillo, TX. The role focuses on keeping school campuses clean, safe, and well-maintained, with leadership responsibilities for campus custodial staff.

The incumbent will coordinate schedules, manage supplies, and support cafeteria setups and special events while following district safety protocols and policies. A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred, with strong leadership and communication skills

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred or equivalent.
• Leadership to direct staff and ensure completion of custodial tasks.
• Read and understand cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures.
• Basic math for chemical dilution and inventory tasks.
• Communicate clearly with staff about requirements and safety.

Responsibilities

• Supervise campus custodial staff in daily duties.
• Coordinate with district custodial and staff at campus.
• Maintain cleaning schedule for floors, boards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, restrooms.
• Keep buildings and grounds neat and clean (including sidewalks and parking).
• Ensure proper storage/disposal of trash per policies.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and request additions as needed.
• Assist with lunchroom setup and cafeteria cleaning during and after meals.
• Move furniture or equipment as directed by principal.
• Prepare facilities for events and manage opening/closing procedures.
• Verify clock-in procedures and safety compliance.
• Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.
