Job summary

The City of Fayetteville is seeking a Senior Bus Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on the Transit Fleet, and to provide technical assistance to lower level mechanics. You will manage diagnostics for gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuels, and handle complex repairs across engines, electrical, and hydraulics.

Qualifications include a NC Class B CDL with passenger and airbrake endorsements, a State Vehicle Safety Inspector’s license, and preferred ASE certifications.

Qualifications

• Three years of journey level experience in equipment repair and maintenance.
• Training completing the twelfth grade with specialized maintenance training.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assist lower level mechanics; provide technical lead.
• Inspect and diagnose mechanical problems; perform preventive maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair electrical systems, engines, drivetrains, brakes, and hydraulics.
• Fabricate/assemble parts and repair body panels; service revenue and ADA equipment.
• Perform safety inspections and maintain detailed maintenance records.
