Job summary

Student Transportation of America is seeking a Lead Mechanic in Mount Joy, PA to diagnose and repair buses, focusing on complex issues and ensuring safety and reliability. The role requires class A/B-C maintenance proficiency, with encouragement to pursue Master ASE certification and CDL/inspection licenses.

Qualifications

5+ years of maintenance experience (preferably in school transportation or related field)
3+ years as a mechanic/technician in transportation or heavy equipment
Air Brake and diagnostic experience
Willingness to obtain CDL and State Inspection license
ASE certification is a plus
CDL is a plus
Tools to perform maintenance work is a plus

Responsibilities

Diagnoses and repairs buses focusing on major/complex problems including engine, transmission, electrical and mechanical defects
Performs upgrades and modifications on bus systems and equipment
Cleans, repairs, and replaces bus equipment as required
Researches bus systems and OEM characteristics for all buses
Performs in-house and road call bus repairs using various tools
Tests buses for proper working order
Documents all work performed in RTA Software
Uses CMMS to diagnose trends in parts usage and labor costs
Performs other duties as assigned
Handles physical dexterity and heavy lifting required by repairs
