Job summary

Oakman Child Care LLC is seeking a responsible Bus Driver to transport children to and from our daycare center in Dearborn, MI. The role requires punctuality, a clean driving history, and excellent service to parents and students.

The driver will work 4 hours daily (2 in the morning, 2 in the afternoon) on established routes, conduct safety inspections, and maintain logs while ensuring a high level of safety and care during transit.

Qualifications

• Must pass CDL licensing exam and school bus training.
• Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) designations required.
• Complete DOT physical and TB screen; CPR and First Aid certification.
• Criminal history checks required; keep a clean driving record.
• Bus driving or childcare experience is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a bus or paratransit vehicle on established routes and schedules.
• Maintain safety and well‑being of children and staff during transit.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections for safety and compliance.
• Communicate schedule changes with dispatchers, parents, and caregivers.
• Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking; support as needed.
• Manage passenger behavior to maintain a safe environment.
• Complete incident reports and daily logs; provide customer service.
• Clean inside and outside of the bus as needed.

Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and responsible Bus Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for providing safe and reliable transportation services for children to be transported safely to and from our daycare center (Oakman Child Care and Development). This role requires punctuality, a clean driving record, and excellent service to both the parents and students alike. You must be able to meet the expectations of the schedule responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Must be able to work 4 hours per day (2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon).
• Must pass a Background Check
• This role is competitive-rate pay starting at $20 per hour.
• Must have a clean driving record
• Safely operate a bus or paratransit vehicle according to established routes and schedules.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of children and staff during transit.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety and compliance with regulations.
• Maintain effective communication with dispatchers, parents, and caregivers regarding schedules and any changes.
• Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, providing support as needed.
• Manage passenger behavior in a positive manner to maintain a safe environment.
• Complete necessary paperwork, including incident reports and daily logs.
• Provide exceptional customer service while addressing any questions or concerns from passengers or their families.
• Clean inside and outside of the bus on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications

• Excellent driving record; ability to pass CDL licensing exam and subsequent school bus driver training.
• Mandatory Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) designations
• Complete an annual DOT physical and TB screen. Be certified in Child and Adult CPR and Basic First Aid.
• Pass comprehensive criminal history checks and maintain a clean driving record.
• Experience in bus driving or commercial driving preferred; school bus driving experience is a plus.
• Strong communication skills in English
• Conducts daily pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections as required.
• Experience working with children or in childcare settings is beneficial.
• Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks is an advantage.
