Job summary

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates, and supervises the activities of personnel engaged in plant maintenance and building equipment services within County facilities.
• Interviews, trains, hires, and evaluates performance of subordinate staff.
• Manages, inspects, and reviews work orders and completed work.
• Reviews plant performance using BAS and alarm management systems to ensure compliance with standards.
• Reviews plant logs and prepares operational reports.
• Evaluates BAS performance and recommends latest technology and market research.
• Communicates with department personnel, regulatory agencies, vendors, and the public regarding plant operations.
• Provides technical expertise, identifies problems with work plans, and contributes to estimating guidelines.
• Monitors training and safety programs to meet codes and regulations.
• Oversees boilers and related equipment in County buildings.
• Develops and executes procedures for building equipment and stationary engineering operations.
• Uses blueprints and maintenance manuals to locate sources and diagnose problems with electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment.
• Oversees equipment maintenance records and reports.
• Identifies training needs for staff and supervises competency assessments.
• Resolves customer service issues and supports energy conservation initiatives.
• Ensures compliance with hospital utilities management and life safety standards.
