Job summary

Grower Direct Nut Company, Inc. seeks an experienced Boiler Mechanic/Operator to maintain boilers, evaporator, chiller, and pasteurizer lines and related equipment.

You will operate steam boilers/equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure safety procedures and regulatory compliance for food production facilities in California.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of boiler operation experience (experience a plus).
• Knowledge of general mechanical equipment maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret piping schematics and diagrams.
• Knowledge of pneumatic operated systems and devices.
• Knowledge of California Code of Regulations Title 8 (Boiler and Fired Pressure Vessel Safety Orders).
• Boiler Operator certification (California) desirable.
• Organized, methodic, efficient and eager to learn.
• Safety and performance oriented.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.
• Must have a valid CA driver license without restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and perform preventative maintenance on steam generating boilers and other steam system equipment and devices.
• Operate pneumatically activated valves (automatic and/or manually).
• Operate mechanical valves and safety devices.
• Perform boiler, steam generation system and devices safety procedures and timely inspections, required by the company and state of California compliance regulations and document them accurately.
• To operate and maintain new boiler equipment, for optimum performance and efficiency.
• Follows and ensures adherence to established Grower Direct Nut Co., local, state, and federal regulations and requirements as well as food safety, sanitation, food production and nutritional guidelines.
• Established and ensures adherence to procedures and standards, which are in agreement with these regulations, requirements and guidelines.

Job type: Full-Time (Onsite)

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Shift: Rotational, 5:00 AM–1:30 PM for training. After the initial 3-month training period, the position will transition to a rotational shift schedule based on business needs.

JOB SUMMARY

A boiler mechanic/operator is responsible for maintaining the boilers, evaporator, chiller, and pasteurizer line and all associated equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Operate steam generated boiler(s) and other steam system equipment and devices.

· Schedule and perform preventative maintenance on steam generating boilers and other steam system equipment and devices.

· Operate pneumatically activated valves (automatic and/or manually).

· Operate mechanical valves and safety devices.

Requirements

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Will frequently stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear, taste and smell.
• Will occasionally sit and occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel crouch or crawl.
• Must use both hands for rapid mental muscular coordination, simultaneously.
• Must be able to reach high and low levels, frequently.
• Must be able to push/pull/lift with arms below waist/at shoulder/above shoulder level up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Must lift with arms up to floor to waist, waist to shoulder 50 pounds.
• Must be able to constantly stand/stoop/walk/bend, up to 12 hrs.
• Ability to strenuous flex/grip with wrist/hands frequently (15 flexion/minute).

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• May work near moving mechanical parts.
• May work around wet or humid conditions, in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, and/or risk of vibration.
