Job summary

The City of Methuen is seeking a Building Maintenance Superintendent to oversee municipal facilities, supervise maintenance staff, and coordinate capital projects. The role requires a valid Journeyman or Master Electrician license in Massachusetts and strong organizational skills.

The incumbent will manage vendor contracts, respond to emergency facility issues, and participate in winter maintenance activities, including plowing and snow removal, sometimes outside normal hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 5+ years in building maintenance or related field.
• Experience in supervisory or lead capacity is required.
• Massachusetts Journeyman/Master Electrician license is required at time of application.

Responsibilities

• Oversee building maintenance and facilities management for municipal assets.
• Coordinate capital improvement projects and manage vendor contracts.
• Supervise maintenance staff and respond to emergency facility issues outside regular hours.
• Coordinate outside contractors for work beyond in-house capability.
• Participate in winter maintenance including snow plowing and salting.
