Job summary

Sacramento County is seeking a Supervising Building Inspector to lead a team in the building inspection program. The role involves supervising inspectors, reviewing construction plans, and enforcing local, state, and national codes across residential, commercial, and industrial structures.

Ideal candidates will have a minimum of three years of experience at Building Inspector I or II level, with strong reporting skills and the ability to train staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Either: Three years full-time experience in Building Inspector I or II in Sacramento County service performing duties including reviewing construction plans and inspecting residential, commercial, and/or industrial buildings to determine compliance with local, state and national codes.
• Or: Three years full-time experience equivalent to Building Inspector I or II performing duties including reviewing construction plans and inspecting residential and/or industrial buildings to determine compliance with local, state and national codes.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, evaluate, and train inspectors.
• Read and interpret building and construction plans and specifications.
• Prepare clear and concise reports.
