Job summary

The NYC Department of Social Services (DSS) is seeking two Custodian III to function as Senior Building Custodians within HRA/GSS. The role involves supervising custodial staff, inspecting facilities, and ensuring cleaning and safety standards are met across assigned buildings in New York City.

Candidates must have two years of full-time experience in building cleaning and maintenance; higher levels require more experience.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time satisfactory experience in the cleaning and maintenance of buildings.
• Three years of satisfactory experience to be assigned to Assignment Level II.
• Four years of satisfactory experience to be assigned to Assignment Level III and IV.

Responsibilities

• Supervise custodial staff across multiple titles.
• Inspect buildings to ensure cleaning and safety standards.
• Organize supplies and maintain custodial assets and equipment.
• Respond to complaints and service requests concerning cleanliness and building conditions.
• Train custodial staff on cleaning methods, safety procedures, and workplace requirements.
