Job summary

Catts Construction Inc is seeking a Bridge Estimator to lead pre-construction estimating and bid strategy for major DOT and structural bridge projects in Ohio and nearby markets. The role demands ownership of estimates, collaboration with PMs, field teams, engineers, and suppliers to ensure accurate, margin-protective bids.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in heavy civil bridge estimating and direct DOT project experience, with a strong grasp of bid development and construction methods.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of estimating experience in heavy civil, heavy highway, or structural bridge projects.
• Direct bridge estimating experience strongly required for the stated salary range.
• Experience building estimates for DOT or public infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead estimating and bid development for structural bridge and DOT projects.
• Perform quantity take-offs from civil and bridge drawings.
• Build detailed estimates and bid strategies using HCSS HeavyBid or similar software.
• Analyze labor, materials, equipment, production rates, subcontractor pricing and risk.
• Review plans, specs, addenda, and contract documents for bid requirements and exposure.
• Develop competitive pricing while protecting project margins.
• Coordinate with project managers, field leadership, and suppliers.
• Identify risks, constructability issues, and scope gaps before bid submission.
• Support bid transitions, change orders, RFIs, and other estimating tasks.
