Job summary

Gilman Brewing Company in West Berkeley seeks an experienced Head Brewer to lead our 24 BBL production facility. You will oversee the brewing process, schedule production, and ensure QA/QC for finished beer quality while reporting directly to the Founder.

You will manage fermentation, yeast health, and packaging quality, and work on specialty projects as capacity allows, with a hands-on leadership style and a focus on repeatable processes.

Qualifications

• At least three years of hands-on commercial production brewing experience; prior Lead Brewer or Head Brewer experience preferred.
• Proven track record producing beers at wholesale scale.
• Strong command of brewhouse operations, fermentation, cellar, CIP and sanitation, yeast management, carbonation and packaging.
• QA/QC or lab experience valued, including sensory evaluation and shelf-life work.

Responsibilities

• Direct day-to-day production from raw materials through package release.
• Lead ~three 24 BBL brews per week and manage fermentation, conditioning, carbonation and release.
• Develop crew, maintain a clean, safe, and repeatable production environment.
• Create schedules around sales demand, tank availability, yeast timing, and materials.
• Collaborate with Founder on specialty beers when capacity allows.
• Maintain SOPs and Ekos records for brewing, CIP, sanitation, and packaging.
