Job summary

Zachry Group is seeking a Boilermaker Helper/Ironworker to construct iron/steel structures for HRSG and related project components. The role requires reading blueprints, planning material layouts, and fabricating per specifications.

You will hoist, align, bolt, and weld components, maintaining safety on high work sites. Candidates must have 4+ years’ experience in boilermaker-related roles, pass pre-employment screenings, and possess reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• Must have leadership abilities and be able to take lead in erection of steel and fabrication.
• Read and understand IFC drawings and craft specs, and interpret notes on drawings.
• Proficient in rigging practices and safe operations.
• Experience reading blueprints and determining scope of work, quantities and locations.
• Able to read cut sheets and plans and lay out from drawings.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and specification to determine the scope of work: locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
• Identify all tools required for tasks.
• Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
• Fabricate equipment according to blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
• Hoist equipment and tools into location via bull rigging or crane.
• Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of structural-steel members, using plumb bobs, laser equipment, transits, and/or levels.
• Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts, following blueprints and instructions from supervisors.
• Bolt aligned structural-steel members in position for permanent riveting or bolting.
• Pull, push, or pry iron/steel equipment into approximate positions for bolting into place.
• Cut, bend, and weld iron/steel pieces, using metal shears, torches, and welding equipment.
