Job summary

BETA Technologies in South Burlington, Vermont is seeking a Battery Management System Engineer to own end-to-end BMS and Charge Control on the aircraft, from system definition to prototype firmware bring-up. You’ll work on embedded software/hardware and collaborate across teams to ensure safe, reliable charging in flight.

Ideal candidates bring hands-on experience with power electronics, embedded C/C++, and blue-sky thinking to push the boundaries of electric aviation while meeting certification

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in electrical engineering, computer science, embedded systems, or related fields.
• Experience with electrical fundamentals and switching power supplies.
• Ability to operate lab equipment including oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, soldering irons.
• Experience with embedded software development and debugging; version control familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Design battery and charge management systems with safety and fuel gauging capabilities.
• Provide support/improvements for hardware and software on aircraft.
• Write system-level requirements for certification-intent charge controller.
• Lead development of new software and implementation/testing on hardware and in aircraft.
• Support debugging and testing of hardware/software in a certification environment.
• Collaborate with Ground Support Equipment (GSE) for seamless charging across platforms and EVSEs.
