Job summary

Coinbase is hiring a Senior Staff Software Engineer for the Blockchain Platform team. You will define the technical vision for nodes, indexers, wallets, and asset systems across 60+ networks, shaping how millions of transactions execute with speed, cost efficiency, and security.

You will lead multi-quarter architectural initiatives, ensure high availability and security, and drive standards across crypto asset operations while collaborating with executives to secure buy-in for major bets.

Qualifications

• Experience with blockchain protocols at node or protocol level (e.g., EVM, Solana, Bitcoin, L2s)
• Proven leadership of large-scale architectural initiatives across multiple teams
• Experience applying AI/agent-based automation to reduce operational toil
• Focus on correctness, security, reliability, testing, and observability in crypto asset operations
• Ability to communicate tradeoffs to executives and drive buy-in for technical bets

Responsibilities

• Define and drive multi-quarter technical strategy for Blockchain Platform.
• Architect and evolve core platform infrastructure for high availability and security at global scale.
• Lead end-to-end design and rollout of large cross-team architectural initiatives.
• Drive engineering standards for correctness, security, reliability, and observability.
• Own data-driven reliability improvements using observability signals to identify platform gaps.
• Represent Blockchain Platform in executive and cross-org forums to secure buy-in for major bets.
