Job summary

Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a Principal Scientist / Lab Head to lead a Protein Sciences and Reagent Provision team in Ridgefield, CT. You will design, generate, and characterize protein reagents for immunization and antibody discovery, while guiding strategy and ensuring timely delivery to internal and external partners.

The role requires leading staff, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and applying expertise in protein chemistry, expression systems, and analytical characterization

Qualifications

• PhD with 5+ years in industry or equivalent experience.
• Experience leading employees and projects.
• Expertise in protein reagent generation and delivery for antibody discovery.
• Knowledge of expression systems and protein purification/characterization.
• Familiarity with AlphaFold or structure-prediction tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead generation and supply of high-quality protein reagents for antibody discovery.
• Define reagent strategies for soluble and membrane proteins, variants, and controls.
• Oversee design, expression, purification, and quality documentation of reagents.
• Collaborate with Antibody Generation and CRO partners to meet timelines.
• Maintain robust quality expectations and ensure lot-to-lot consistency.
• Guide protein characterization and troubleshooting using MS, SEC, and related methods.
