Job summary

WSP is seeking a Lead Professional, Biology to join our New York team with offices in Buffalo, Syracuse, or Troy (Albany). The role involves providing high-level guidance on collection, analysis, and reporting of observational and spatial biology data across diverse ecosystems.

You will support environmental impact assessments, permitting projects, and restoration activities, ensuring QA/QC and regulatory compliance. Travel may be required as projects dictate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, natural resource management, or related life sciences.
• 10+ years of environmental science experience with surveys, fieldwork, and impact assessments.
• Experience with NEPA/State/Federal permitting and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Guide data collection for observational and spatial data on vegetation, wetlands, wildlife, and related environmental data.
• Analyze literature and data to identify biological impacts.
• Prepare biological survey reports, impact assessments and permitting activities.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and QA/QC of data and documentation.
• Lead cross-functional teams and manage project budgets and timelines.
• Create data visualizations and technical reports for findings.
• Engage in business development and mentoring of junior staff.
