Job summary

RRD is seeking a Bindery Operator to set up and run a range of binding and finishing equipment, including multiple head machines. You will ensure quality, maintain safety, and coordinate with the crew to meet production goals.

The role requires reading work orders, calculating tolerances, and adjusting machines to produce finished books, catalogs, and other printed materials with accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret written work orders or job specifications, and maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Must be able to calculate distances, clearances, and fits when coordinating machines.
• Skill in using standard and specialized tools to adjust and maintain bindery equipment.
• Knowledge of complex bindery machines and finishing processes.
• Understanding of coating and paper stock quality and machining requirements.
• Ability to set up and adjust machines for finishing operations to ensure quality.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate a variety of auxiliary binding machines and finishing equipment.
• Set up automatic bindery machines with multiple functions to produce final books or catalogs.
• Inspect equipment for safety issues.
• May operate perfect binders with multiple process stations.
• Adjust stations to coordinate multiple work centers on a machine.
• Direct crew through production.
• Monitor quality, output and productivity.
