Job summary

Southland Industries seeks a Detailer/Lead Detailer to drive modeling, detailing, and BIM coordination on MEP projects. You will lead a detailing team, partner with design groups to minimize rework, and manage resources to deliver accurate shop drawings and timely sign-offs with GC collaboration.

The role emphasizes constructability, coordination across HVAC, Plumbing, Piping and Sheet Metal trades, and budget accountability.

Qualifications

• High School or GED with 6 years of progressive detailing experience or trade apprentice program and 4 years of field experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction or related field preferred
• Field Foreman/General Foreman preferred
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents
• Current knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, Piping, Sheet Metal trades and field installation methods
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to coordinate projects
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Ability to interpret the Construction Schedule to integrate a design pull schedule
• Working knowledge of Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD

Responsibilities

• Leads detailing team and constructability on generally smaller or less complex projects
• Partners with design and modeling group to minimize model rework
• Leads communication between project team members to ensure a successful product
• Provides material, content and feedback to team members as needed
• Leads final trade coordination and sign-off with General Contractor
• Contributes to design pull schedule to direct model development
• Manages resources assigned to the project
• Participates in conceptual design to promote modular construction and constructability standards
• Supports budget and cost accountability
