Job summary

Southland Industries seeks a detailing lead to support construction projects through shop drawings, BIM modeling, and MEP systems. You will coordinate across teams to improve efficiency and accuracy, guiding the detailing staff on smaller projects and ensuring constructability standards are met.

You will partner with design and modeling groups to minimize rework, lead trade coordination with the General Contractor, and help manage resources and budget accountability in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• High School or GED with 6 years of progressive detailing experience or trade apprenticeship + 4 years field experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction or related field preferred
• Field Foreman/General Foreman preferred
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to read and interpret basic construction documents
• Knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, Piping, Sheet Metal trades and field installation methods
• Working knowledge of AEC, BIM, CAD software Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD

Responsibilities

• Lead detailing team and manage constructability on smaller or less complex projects
• Collaborate with design and modeling group to minimize model rework
• Lead project team communication to address concerns and ensure a successful product
• Provide material, content and feedback to team members
• Lead final trade coordination and sign-off with the General Contractor
• Contribute to design pull schedule to guide model development to deadlines
• Manage resources assigned to the project
• Participate in conceptual design for modular construction and constructability standards
• Support budget and cost accountability
