Summary
The Lead Behavioral Health Technician-ABA (“Lead BHT-ABA”), under the direction of Behavior Consultant, executes the IEP and treatment plan for assigned clients. The Lead BHT completes duties in addition to regularly assigned BHT responsibilities, including providing feedback to team members, acting as the lead in teacher’s absence, establishing and contributing to a positive classroom environment, training new hires on basic classroom and student procedures, and linking the classroom Behavioral Health Technician-ABA’s with the appropriate Multi-Disciplinary Team (“MDT”) members.

Essential Functions
- Fully implements all assigned client plans and programs with fidelity across school and community environments, utilizing the proper protective equipment when necessary
- Accurately completes appropriate documentation requirements related to daily in-school services
- Completes high quality session notes
- Maintains a professional relationship with families
- Provides support to clients through Activities of Daily Living (e.g. self-care routines and chores) and swimming activities
- Collects, documents, and/or enters data or other relevant information pertaining to client behavior, goals, and prescribed programming
- Provides coaching to all team members in a supportive and collaborative manner, and receives and implements coaching from others to improve performance
- Conducts all interactions with staff, clients, and internal and external customers in positive, professional, and caring manner
- Assists Special Education Teacher in delegation and management of materials and student activity development
- Provides direction to Behavioral Health Technician-ABA’s regarding daily assignments, tasks, and expected actions during unstructured time and upholds systems of accountability
- Successfully coaches staff on delivering evidence-based practices (e.g. effective instruction and behavioral strategies) completing paperwork, learning classroom procedures, and charting as needed
- Completes other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The following positions or frequent movements are typical of the job: sitting, walking, running, standing, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, stooping, kneeling, and crawling, often for extended periods of the workday. Assignment may require the ability to physically move clients during possible physical interventions in order to maintain a safe learning environment, and may require employees to wear protective apparel and equipment when necessary.
The position requires that an individual be able to learn new tasks quickly and effectively. Job requirements may change frequently. The ability to understand and carry out detailed, involved, instructions is mandatory. The incumbent must be able to travel to multiple locations as needed, when needed to conduct organizational business. Subject to inside environmental conditions.
EXPECTED SCHEDULE
This is a year-round, full-time position. Program operation days and hours of work are determined by the EIBS program calendar and will be Monday through Friday. During scheduled school break weeks, 8 work hours are assigned to fulfill regulatory training requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum High School Diploma required
- Successful completion of Vista’s crisis intervention training required
- Ability to implement, train, and coach other staff on the implementation of services required
Knowledge And Skills
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services field highly desired
- Minimum of 6 months experience at Vista preferred
- Minimum 1 year experience working in human services or school setting highly desired
- Current First Aid and CPR Training preferred
- Demonstrated initiative to take on leadership role
