Qualifications

Job description

This position can be remote if necessary and requires 3 years of cabling experience, with a minimum of 1 year as project lead managing other techs. You will spend up to 75% of the time traveling to customer job sites.

The pay range is $26-$30/hr.

Scope:

The Lead Infrastructure Technician installs, maintains, and troubleshoots cabling and fiber infrastructure, and installs and connects various network devices. They work directly with engineers, project managers, and customers to review work orders and project scope, understanding telecommunications standards and customer needs to provide recommendations. Clear communication via email and phone is essential, along with attention to detail and a high sense of urgency.

The candidate must be able to travel and work out of town regularly.

Responsibilities:

  • Meeting with customers, reviewing project scope and tasks.
  • Installing, terminating, testing, certifying, and labeling CAT5, CAT6, and fiber.
  • Building out IDF/MDF, installing racks, cabinets, and ladder racking.
  • Dressing cables and installing fiber channel trays.
  • Drilling, cutting ceiling tiles, penetrating firewalls, installing fire penetration solutions.
  • Installing network devices like wireless access points, digital signage, security cameras.
  • Leading crews of installers, including subcontractors.
  • Troubleshooting copper and fiber connections.
  • Installing EMT conduit and raceways.
  • Documenting tasks daily for project managers.
  • Maintaining quality standards.
  • Contributing to team efforts.
  • Leading by example, adhering to policies.
  • Working effectively with customers and team members.
  • Communicating via phone, email, fax.
  • Driving for work purposes, maintaining a good driving record.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma required; college or vocational degree preferred.
  • 3 years cabling experience, with at least 1 year as project lead.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, multi-tasker.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of voice, data, fiber optic systems.
  • Ability to create detailed documentation.
  • Experience with cabling and fiber testing devices.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Physical ability to climb ladders, crawl, kneel, reach overhead, differentiate colors.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

Up to 75% travel, ability to read, write, communicate, move boxes up to 50 lbs, ascend/descend ladders, work in various positions, and perform manual tasks.
