Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Associate or Bachelor degree in human service field preferred.
• At least two years’ experience as a BHA required.
• Two or more years’ experience working with the specific population of the facility required.

Responsibilities

• Ensures wellbeing of clients and provides a safe, positive, supportive environment.
• Performs safety checks and monitors supervision per guidelines.
• Interacts with clients, observes behaviors and reports significant observations.
• Encourages attendance at group therapy and client participation in activities.
• Facilitates educational-rehabilitative groups on social, coping, and independent living skills.
• Records vital signs accurately and communicates changes to nursing staff.
• Applies de-escalation techniques to manage emotions and participation.
• Performs administrative tasks and coordinates admissions/discharges as needed.
• Mentors and guides other BHAs and leads shift planning.
