Redwood Materials is building the next generation of grid-scale energy storage and circular energy ecosystems. We seek a Battery Software Integration Engineer to connect second-life automotive batches with scalable software platforms and centralized energy storage systems.

You will lead software discussions with OEMs, develop translation layers, and deploy robust CAN, Ethernet, and Modbus interfaces while collaborating across hardware, controls, and BMS teams to ensure safe, reliable operation.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in controls and software engineering with a deep, practical understanding of lithium-ion battery architectures and external BMS software.
• Experience acting as a primary software POC with external suppliers, automotive OEMs, or internal cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in modern software engineering practices and languages (Rust, Python, C/C++).

Responsibilities

• Be the lead software POC bridging legacy automotive hardware and modern software infrastructure.
• Design and deploy translation layers and software gateways to integrate second-life OEM battery packs into our central system.
• Develop containerized applications to handle external BMS communication, data parsing, and fault management.
• Build robust interfaces (CAN, Ethernet, Modbus) for diverse OEM packs without compromising system stability.
• Collaborate with power electronics, site controller, controls teams, and internal BMS developers for harmonized operation.
• Drive rigorous validation across simulation tools, HIL platforms, and physical battery hardware.
