Job summary

Sophie B. Wright Charter School is seeking a Head Baseball Coach to lead all aspects of the baseball program. You will organize practices, coordinate games, develop student-athletes, and foster team culture while ensuring academics and behavior align with school expectations.

Responsibilities include planning practices, implementing strategies, supervising athletes during travel, and maintaining equipment. CPR/First Aid certification and background check are required or pursued.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching or playing baseball preferred.
• Knowledge of baseball rules, techniques, and training methods.
• Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
• Background check and drug test required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct effective practices and game strategies.
• Develop student-athletes’ skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Supervise athletes during practices, games, and travel.
• Maintain compliance with school, district, and LHSSA rules.
• Communicate with players, parents, and school staff.
• Organize tryouts and team selection.
• Ensure proper care and inventory of equipment and uniforms.
• Promote academic success and positive behavior among athletes.
